Fenced sites, nothing assumed.
Water plants, utility yards and remote equipment sit behind long, dark, unattended fences. We design perimeter detection, gates and cameras so an alarm comes with a location and a picture.
SHT-02On the site
What we design on a fenced site.
- CI-01Perimeter zonesThe fence divided into zones a responder can find in the dark.
- CI-02GatesVehicle and pedestrian gates with access control and intercom.
- CI-03Long-range coverageCameras chosen for distance and low light, placed per zone.
- CI-04Remote sitesPower and connectivity planned for sites with no one on them.
- CI-05Device hardeningSegmented networks, changed defaults and recorded firmware.
- CI-06Audit recordsDrawings and test records your inspectors can follow.
SHT-03The context
Inspectors are looking at the basics.
70%+
of drinking water systems inspected by EPA since September 2023 were in violation of basic SDWA Section 1433 requirements
SHT-04Why it matters
Security should not be the weak point.
EPA's finding is about the basics. Physical security systems on these sites are networked too: cameras, controllers and intercoms with passwords, firmware and open ports. We plan them with your operations and IT teams and leave a record of every device, address and setting.
“Cyber-hardening the infrastructure as a whole”
Industry voices quoted from published interviews. They describe what buyers ask of integrators; they are not reviews of Smartech.
SHT-05Questions
What site owners ask.
Can you cover a site with no network connection?
The survey checks power and connectivity first. Where there is none, the design says how video and alarms get off the site.
Do you install fire alarm systems?
No. Our Florida Class II license covers all types of alarm systems other than fire. Where security and fire alarm meet, such as door release, we coordinate with your licensed fire alarm contractor.
