Service

Towing and anchor handling on Lake Maracaibo

Towing of barges and floating equipment, and anchor and chain handling to lay and recover moorings.

Two crew members by the anchor winch on a vessel deck

Whoever hires anchor handling isn’t buying a vessel: they are buying an operation without surprises. And that operation is decided before casting off, with the vessel inspected, the crew assigned and the papers in order.

What’s included

  • Towing of barges, platforms and floating equipment.
  • Laying and recovering anchors and chains.
  • Anchor support during rig moves.
  • Each vessel with its sheet: owned or partner, flag, registration and current inspection.
  • The bollard pull we state is the one on each vessel’s current certificate.

FAQ

What we are asked about this service

What should we check on a vessel before approving it for anchor handling?

The inspection date, not just the certificate: the certificate says the inspection exists, and the date says whether it is still valid. Also whether the vessel is owned or a partner vessel, its flag, its registration and its certified bollard pull.

Is the bollard pull guaranteed?

We state the bollard pull shown on each vessel’s current certificate. It is the certificate’s figure, not a performance promise.

Who handles the permits for the operation?

We agree on it with the client for each scope: which permits Aegean Maritime handles and which the operator handles.

Do you tow outside the Lake?

We work on Lake Maracaibo, the strait and the Gulf of Venezuela. If your job is somewhere else, message us and we will tell you whether we can take it on.
