With your friend’s link, your first month of monitoring is free when you activate any of the three. The one-time fee and the 36-month agreement still apply.
The 36-month agreement.
It’s a three-year monitoring service agreement. Before you sign, ask for a written explanation of what your plan includes, which equipment gets installed and what the cancellation terms are. A good install starts with a good explanation:

If the sale is at your home.
When an agreement is signed at your home, the FTC’s federal cooling-off rule lets you cancel it until midnight of the third business day after signing. Ask for that notice when you sign.
